My puppy has giardia and eats poop. Will she get reinfected?

Hi my 11 week old dog is currently on meds for giardia parasite and is eating and drinking ok but now starting to eat her own feces. Is this going to make the parasite not go away. Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1.8 lbs

Unfortunately as long as Athena is shedding Giardia she could become reinfected through contact with her stool. You should try to clean up as best you can every time she defecates and bathe or wipe her hind end well. If you can’t clean up her stool to restrict access she may need to wear a basket muzzle when she goes outdoors:
