My cat died after a short fall. What could have caused her death?

My cat was sleeping on laundry hamper, it fell over and she fell down about 2-3 feet. It killed her. Could it have been that she broke her neck? She might have hit against wall on way down. No one witnessed what happened. She did sleep in a weird position, belly up n bottom half sorta rapped sideways. She was always falling off things while sleeping. Why did she die?
