My female mouse is scared of new mice. What should I do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Mouse | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 12 days old | 0.0625 lbs

Hello! I recently got a mouse from Petco and after a couple of days I decided to get her a couple of friends from a different Petco after learning female mice are best in pairs or groups. Well she is completely terrified of the other two mice and she shreaks and puts her foot up to push them away anytime they even come near her. They aren’t fighting but she is still scared now. Am I overreacting? What should I do? I’m just worried that maybe now she’s unhappy and wants to be alone. First mice.

Thanks for reaching out about Sadie and including a photo. It appears as if the two new females where bonded and are bonded and ganging up on your first mouse. They can be aggressive but rarely do serious damage. But provide multiple hiding areas, food dishes, water dishes and area of rest. But if aggression continues, they might have to be separated. Good luck.
