My dog's shirt gave him wounds. How do I treat his raw skin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old

We got our dog a shirt and he wore it all day and when we took it off he had wounds from it. What should I do? He has it on both arms.

Poor Bubba! I would gently clean his wounds with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wounds clean and dry, and monitor them for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it.
