Why are my small dogs honking more frequently since we got new pets?

Hi! This is actually about both of my dogs, but it wouldn’t allow me to select both of them. They’re both small dogs and the honk a bit when excited. I know that it’s pretty normal but lately they’ve been honking more frequently, and it’s been harder to calm them down. We just got a new cat and two birds a week or two ago and I was wondering if that may be causing their issues.

Honking when excited can actually be not normal and a sign of a medical problem like a collapsing trachea. Since it has increased in frequency lately, I would have both of them seen by a vet. Certainly adding new members of the family can lead to increased excitement, but it's best to have them checked out. Best of luck.
