My rescue dog wakes up from naps in a frenzy. Is she having nightmares?

Rescue small dog wakes up after naps multiple times a day in a frenzy. She whines & cries out, then sprints across the floor and sometimes lands upside down on her back. I have been trying to wake her as I feel she is having bad dreams. Is there anything we can do? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

Try to give her daily hard exercise and a daily training session. This will physically and mentally make her tired and this may help her brain to relax and allow her a peaceful rest.
