My 4-week-old puppies have worms. Can I treat them safely at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 4 days old | 0 lbs

I have a litter of pups that are 4 weeks and 3 days old and a few days ago I noticed that one (or maybe even all 9) definitely has worms. The medicine that I've got says not for puppies under 6 weeks of age. I do not have the money to take them all to a vet at the moment but isn't there something I could do for the babies? Maybe cut the dosage in half or something?

No, do not do this. It is not safe if it's labeled for puppies over six weeks of age, and even cutting the dosage in half is not safe. I would get Panacur for them. It's safe to give puppies their age, and you may be able to get it at a pet store.
