Does Dawn dish soap or flea collars work for dog fleas and ticks?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 2 months and 13 days old | 25 lbs

Is it true that dawn liquid dish soap helps fight ticks, fleas and cleans a dog really well? Do you guys recommend flea collars? If so what brand and at what age can we start flea collars? Thanks!

In my opinion systemic (oral) and spot on prescription products are the best and most effective ones. Liquid dish soap and collars are not that effective. I usually suggest collars only as repellents against certain type of insects as sand flies (Leishmania vectors).
