Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 11 years and 7 months old | 10 lbs
My 12yr old chihuahua seems to have a tender belly and it feels a little swollen and tight. The areas on her back which I assume to be about where her kidneys would be are also tight. This has been going on since last night. Other than that, she is her normal happy self with no other changes that I’ve noticed. She’s eating, drinking and going to the bathroom ok. What could this be?

Symptoms like this can be related to pain in the back or pain in the pancreas. Even though she is acting normal, the tense areas indicate there is some discomfort and I recommend to have her examined by her veterinarian. The doctor may recommend radiographs to check the spine or a blood test to check the pancreas. Both conditions should be treated to alleviate pain. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
