My cat's WBC count is low, but she seems fine. Should I be worried?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 2 months old | 10 lbs

I took my 9yr old cat to the vet for routine yearly physical. Her bloodwork came back with her wbc 1.7 and norm is 2.5-15. Repeat bloodwork is going to be done in 3wks. She eats, drinks, sleeps normal no diarrhea,vomiting...nothing unusual whatsoever. She is a high anxiety cat however and I know stress can lower wbc count. How concerned should I be ?

If Pudding has been normal and the veterinarian did not find any abnormalities on her physical exam, then try not to stress. The blood cells are cyclic in nature and sometimes we catch them at a low point. Stress can also impact the counts. Retesting in 3 weeks is the best route to go so that you can see what the trend is and then make an appropriate assessment. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
