Dachshund ear yeast infections: Affordable home solutions for relief?

Question

My daschund keeps getting yeast infections in hisear can i get any meds to treat at home ? I am on a fixed income and vets are costly. Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | 10 years and 4 months old

Hello. There are over the counter ear solutions & you might want to look into one called Zymox ( available through Amazon, PetMeds & Chewy to name a few ). But you may want to really consider having Rico looked at to see exactly what is going on in the ear. Yeast infections are almost always associated with allergy issues & treating the allergies often helps in preventing the ear infections. Putting the wrong medication into the ear can cause more problems, especially if the tympanic membrane ( ear drum ) has ruptured. You will not be able to diagnose this without a deep look into the ear canal. Diagnosing & treating an ear infection on your own could cause deafness & wind up costing you more in the long run.
