My female rat bites her cage. Is she cage protective? How to stop?

Hello. I have a rat called cream. Female. Not spayed. She nips and bites through the bars of the cage but dosent when I pick her up or handle her. What could this be? She’s been to the vet today (10/3/19) and they’ve said she’s fine as she was sneezing. I’m not sure what it could be and how to try and stop her from doing it!

Thanks for reaching out about Cream. Sounds as if she is cage protective. Spaying her might calm her down. Continue to work with her, allow her to come out of the cage on her own and then handling. Hopefully this will allow her to acclimate to your presence. Good luck.
