My cat's whiskers are breaking. Why do they look like they were cut?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 years and 10 months old | 20 lbs

What would be the cause of a cats wiskers breaking off? It just looks like somone cut some of them with scissors. Its not all of them just a few.

Sylvester may have gotten the whiskers caught somewhere, or if there is anything hot around he may have singed the ends. I cannot think of any disease that would cause whiskers to break although there are some skin diseases that might cause them to fall out along with the surrounding hair.
