My dog has dark eye marks and teary discharge. Is it serious?

For the last year my 4 year old dog has has these dark marks on his eyes, both local vets have varying opinions on it, there is some teary discharge daily that I just wipe away. Thanks in advance , Dan. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 81 lbs

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Reno. If the dark pigment is only on the white portion of the eye, that is typically not problematic. However, if the pigment extends across the cornea or if there are raised pink lesions across the surface of the eye, this is worrisome. Has he had eye testing performed? This is my first step in evaluating eyes. I will check for scratches to the surface of the eye, measure the pressure within the eye as well the amount of tear production.
