How to stop kittens from getting poop on paws? Will they outgrow it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 20 days old

My kittens soil their paws so often in their poop that I’m tired of cleaning them so frequently. Will they continue doing this when they grow into an adult as well? Because at times when I leave them at home and go out I’m worried they’ll spoil my furniture and other things with their soiled paws. How can I train them better?

Most kittens will outgrow this messy phase. Adult cats tend to be very clean animals. You may try a different type of litter to see if that helps with the mess or even try something like an automatic litter box. Get a mat as well to put in front of the litter box to can help to knock some of the litter off their paws. I hope this helps and best of luck. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
