Why is my 8-month-old Chow Chow panting so much in hot weather?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 22 lbs

Hi Doc. I have a chow chow 8 months old. We live in the Philippines with hot climate sometimes. But the house is fully ventilated with fair amount of appliances to cool the room. But she constantly panting fast these few days. Is it normal?

Chows have very thick fur, so they can easily get hot in very warm climates. If it's quite hot where you are now, that can cause the panting. I have a Chow myself, and I see her panting sometimes in hot weather even when she indoors in the a/c. Make sure she has a cool, dark room with a fan in it to cool her down, and that she always has access to plenty of fresh, cool water. I hope this helps.
