My dog is vomiting & lethargic after pyometra surgery. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | 5 years and 10 months old | 13 lbs

Layla had Pyometra surgery 3 days ago and will eat a little and sometimes will hold the food down and then sometimes throw up. She’s just been laying down also so idk if that plays a factor. Is this normal?

Poor Layla! While it's normal for a dog to be more lethargic than usual, vomiting usually is not. But it could also be any medications she is on causing the vomiting as drugs like antibiotics cause GI upset. I would give her vet a call in the morning to let them know you are seeing these problems, and they will advise you if they want you to bring her in. I hope this helps.
