Why is my Boston Terrier in pain with weak back legs and shaking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | spayed | 6 years and 5 months old | 22 lbs

My Boston Terrier is in pain, but I'm not sure what's wrong. She is weak on her back legs and is shaking. I also noticed that it hurt her when I picked her up because she made a kind of sigh humming noise. It also seems like her stomach and rear hurts because it hurts her when I apply pressure to her abdomen and hip area. She has had an issue with. her back right leg before where she would hop around with it in the air, but this is different and is with both back legs.

If Olive is having a problem with both back legs, I would suspect she has an issue with her back or hips. Rest her tonight. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to potty on a leash, and bring her right back in when she's done. First thing in the morning, take her into her vet. Do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe safe pain medications for her. I hope this helps.
