Can dogs take Tussigon and Phenobarbital together? Any interactions?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Morkie | Male | neutered | 7.8 lbs

Can my dog Kasey take tussigon (1/4-1/2 every 6hrs.) and phenobarbital (1/4 - 1/2 every 12hrs.) at the same time? Any interactions between the two? Would you recommend 1/4 dosage for his weight? 7.78lbs Thank you!

It would generally be safe to use Tussigon and Phenobarbitol at the same time, however I wouldn't start Tussigon on your own if not prescribed by his vet since there are many possible causes for coughs. I can't recommend a dosage since I haven't seen him or know what he's being treated for, but your vet will be able to help with that. Good luck!
