My cat ate soap foam from the sink. Is hand soap poisonous to cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 11 months and 1 day old | 10 lbs

My cat ate some soap foam from my sink a few minutes ago and she keeps licking herself. The soap is a liquid hand soap called Softsoap and it is cucumber scented. Could this be poisonous for her?

That should not cause any major side effects at all but would require some monitoring over the next 2 hours at least. Any abnormal signs like inappetence, lethargy, vomiting or hypersalivating or being off balance while walking would required to be checked by your local veterinarian.
