New 6-week kitten not peeing, drinking, or litterbox trained?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 1 month and 2 days old

I just yesterday got a kitten from a woman who barely told us anything about her, only that she was six and a half weeks and that she was eating soft foods. She has eaten two small servings of the soft food and pooped once, hasn’t peed yet and is not litterbox trained. The only source of liquid is from her food, she has not drank her milk or water. She sleeps a lot but is also very playful. I’ve never had a kitten of this age so I’m worried about her.

Mercury is so cute! Moving into a new house is stressful for a kitten, and it will take her time to adjust. She is getting some liquid from the soft food, and she may be drinking water at night when you are sleeping. I would take her into a vet in the morning to check out everything is ok health wise. I will put a link below on how to litterbox train a kitten. I hope this helps! https://www.petcoach.co/article/litter-box-training-for-your-kitten/
