Pet's info: Bird | Finch | Male | unneutered
Hi there! My zebra finch is sick but he is slowly getting better, I've noticed he's been eating more than usual as well. Is this normal for him? I have no funds for vet but have managed to slowly cure him with no medicine at all but am curious about his need to eat more than he does. He has not developed any more signs of illness. His tiredness and fluffing of his feathers have lessened. His female friend is also left outside the cage, is this stressing him to eat more? I have him in quarantine.

Usually when a bird is ill they will eat less, so it's a good sign Kai is eating more. It could be that since he is recovering from illness, he needs more food in order to gain back any lost weight or replace any lost nutrients. I would let him eat as much as he is interested in as long as he isn't gaining too quickly.
