My dog had a seizure and is now limping. What could be wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | 5 years and 5 months old

About 3 weeks ago my 5yr old pomeranian mix had a seizure which lasted 5+ minutes and ever since she has been lame in her left hip. It doesn't seem to bother when I rub/massage her in that hip. She did not eat or drink anything 'off' nor did she have any wounds open or closed. What could have caused the seizure and the limp?

I would recommend a veterinary visit especially now that we have a history of seizures. Your veterinarian can palpate Ryleigh’s leg to determine if there is anything with her leg. They can also run blood work to make sure there is nothing systemic going on with her that is related to the seizure. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
