My puppy took Benadryl for swollen eyes, breathing slow. Is he okay?

My puppies eye lids got really swollen and my friend that works with dogs regularly said to give him children’s Benadryl so I did. He fell asleep and started breathing really slow and his heart rate was really slow. I woke him up but I had to move him around a lot and it took a minute. He seems fine now. Is he okay? I’m scared to let him get back to sleep. Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 21 days old | 7 lbs

It is never recommend to give a young puppy a human medication unless specifically prescribed by a vet. It sounds like Charlie got very sleepy from it, and I would not give him anymore. Have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning for his swollen eyelids. I hope this helps.
