My puppy took Benadryl for swollen eyes, breathing slow. Is he okay?

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 21 days old | 7 lbs

My puppies eye lids got really swollen and my friend that works with dogs regularly said to give him children’s Benadryl so I did. He fell asleep and started breathing really slow and his heart rate was really slow. I woke him up but I had to move him around a lot and it took a minute. He seems fine now. Is he okay? I’m scared to let him get back to sleep.

It is never recommend to give a young puppy a human medication unless specifically prescribed by a vet. It sounds like Charlie got very sleepy from it, and I would not give him anymore. Have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning for his swollen eyelids. I hope this helps.
