My dog has sudden lumps on her face. What could they be?

My dog has developed these two lumps on her face in the last few hours. Is it something we should be worried about?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If these bumps appears on Bella recently in the last few hours, then these could be hives, insect sting or bite, or a mild skin irritation. It is hard to say for sure without seeing Bella in person. If they are very itchy and persist or seem to really bother her, I would seek care for Bella with her veterinarian soon to have these evaluated.

    I am sorry to hear about your concern for Maya! With a bump appearing so quickly like this, an insect bite would be our first suspicion. If no othe bumps appear, I would just continue to monitor the area. If she develops more bumps this could be hives and she should see her vet. If the area begins to enlarge/ ooze/ bruise or if it is not resolves in a week, these would be other reasons for her to see her veterinarian.

    I can't tell what those are from the photos. Is it possible they are ticks/tick bites? Skin infections, blocked pores or tumors are also possible. The only way to know with accuracy is to have Bella examined by her veterinarian. I recommend to get this done so that any needed treatments can be administered. Best of luck.

Hi and thanks for your post on Boop by Petco. Oh dear, this sounds like Bella has hives indicating an allergic reactions to something she was exposed to. Please take her into a veterinarian right away for treatment. She will need antihistamines and a steroid. Whatever she was exposed to needs to be identified so she does not have a reaction like this again. Best of luck!

I found around 10-15 small lumps on my dogs head in between his ears and going towards his eyes that weren't there yesterday. He seems to be uncomfortable and even maybe in alittle pain. What should I do. Thank you. gail
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! These could be either benign changes such as hives from an allergic reaction (since it came so suddenly) vs potentially masses. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian to better characterize these changes. If it looks more like a mass, your veterinarian could perform a test called a fine needle aspirate which is easy, cheap and pain-free. Sometimes, a biopsy is required for a diagnosis. Have your pup evaluated by your veterinarian to have this test performed to try to sort out what the diagnosis is so that the best course of action can be determined. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is something benign!

My dog has a small lump (about an inch or so wide) on the side of her face, it has a white hue(probably her skin) with a reddish color which could be blood (although none washed off), it happened within the last day. She is a Labrador-sharpie mix age
Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco. This looks like a possible bug bite based on how quickly this came about, and also the color and area that it is located. If it doesn't seem to bother Gracie, then I would recommend monitoring it for now to see if this resolves on its own within the next few days. You can apply a cold compress on the area (if needed) for 5-10 minutes to help with some of the swelling, and a very thin layer of Neosporin once every 12 hrs as needed; however, this is likely to resolve on its own as long as Gracie doesn't bother it and it doesn't spread. If the bump does appear to get worse over the next 24-48 hrs, then its best to get Gracie seen by your vet for stronger medication to get this to resolve. There is a slight chance that this is an infected pocket (abscess) that will require a short course of antibiotics and treatment to get this to heal well. Why does my dog have a bump underneath her chest by her private area?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Without seeing Bella and feeling the lump it’s hard to say what it is. Dogs can get fatty lumps and cysts that are not serious but they can also get masses that are serious. I would take her to the vet when they open next so they can examine it closer. They may need to get a sample from the lump and look at it under a microscope for a better idea. Good luck and kisses to Bella!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Nora! If they appeared suddenly they are likely hives from an allergic reaction from a bug bite or other allergen. I'd call your Vet this morning and set up an appointment. They likely will give her a steroid and antihistamine injection if hives. Good luck!

My dog skin has broke out in bumps that arnt disappearing they seem to be underneath his skin
Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Bumps that appear suddenly under the skin sound a lot like hives which is an indication of an allergic reaction. There may be other causes as well such as a bacterial infection. I would recommend Ty see a veterinarian right away. If they are hives, Ty will need a steroid and antihistamine injection or other medications as necessary.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! Bella is adorable! I can see that she has what appears to be a lump beneath the fur on her shoulder. This can be a growth or an infection, but it is impossible to tell from a photo. I recommend taking her to the vet right away. Your vet can take a small sample of the lump to determine exactly what it is as well as perform x-rays and bloodwork to rule out the conditions you are concerned about.

Two lumps have appeared by dogs nose over night. What could this be?
Hello, thank you for your question about Bailey. Based oh the photo that you have provided I suspect that those bumps are hives and signs that Bailey is having an allergic reaction. If the reaction is mild and these are the only signs that you are seeing you could try giving her Benadryl at home to control the reaction. If she is showing any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or progressive facial swelling I would recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! A lot of skin bumps and lumps can look the same. She could have hit her nose on something and the bump is related to trauma and will go away, it could be a benign growth (like a histiocytoma), it could be part of a skin infection or immune reaction, hives or a cancerous growth. If the bump doesn't resolve in a few days I recommend having your Vet look at it. The sores around her mouth can also be due to infection or an immune condition and may or may not be related to the new bump on her nose. I hope this helps and I wish Luna a speedy recovery!
