Hello, Jack is currently on Clopidogrel 75mg and takes a quarter of a pill per day. We’ve had a lot of rain lately that’s slowed him down more than usual and I have Onsior 6mg I can give him. I wanted to make sure it was ok to give him the Onsior while on the blood thinner? Thank you!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and double-checking if these medications are safe to use together. Clopidogrel and Onsior are safe to give at the same time, as long as they are medications that are both prescribed by your veterinarian to be used by Jack. Onsior is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication that should not be used if cats have underlying liver or kidney disease, as Onsior can make these diseases worse. If the Onsior has been prescribed by your veterinarian for Jack (and not a different cat in the house) it is OK to give him this along with the Clopidogrel he usually receives. If the Onsior has been prescribed for a different cat in the household, I would not give this to Jack without Jack first being evaluated by your veterinarian. I hope this is helpful!
