My dog ate part of a debit card. Will she be able to pass it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 80 lbs

Rayne is around 77 lbs. Tonight she ate about 1/4 of a debit card. Looking at the teeth marks, it looks it was in little pieces. Tried to get her to vomit; did not work. So I gave her some wheat bread and a little coconut oil. This happened about 1 hour after eating dinner. Should she be able to pass this? Thank you.

If it's small enough it may pass, however I would be concerned about sharp plastic edges that could cut or irritated the GI tract. I would keep an eye on Rayne and if she shows any symptoms such as tender abdomen, bloody vomit or diarrhea, changes in appetite, etc, bring her into your vet for a complete exam and to make sure it isn't a complication from the ingestion.
