My Husky won't eat or walk, has a fever and cough. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 18 lbs

My 2 year male Husky is not eating and drinking from last 12 days and we r orally feeding him from last 7 days. His poo is normal and pee is a bit dark. He is prescribed some medicines by my vet but he is not improving and now he is not able to walk or stand properly. His blood report for protozoan is negative. His eyes are cloudy and dry due to dehydration and his temperature always remains over 102.5. He is extremely lathergic and coughs with honking noise and no mucus discharge.

Hello. I am so sorry that Hurshy has been so unwell. There is just so much missing information here & just so much more that can be done to try & discover what his problem is. You really need to find a veterinarian who will do a complete serum chemistry analysis to look at liver & kidney function ( more than just the BUN ), a complete blood count & a comprehensive urinalysis. He needs to be tested for heartworms & have chest x-rays done. I know this sounds like an awful lot, but Hurshy is too young to be so sick for such a long time. Hopefully, with more information, a diagnosis will be made, but I think I would stop the prednisone & I cannot make out what the other items are. Good luck & I hope he is feeling better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
