Why is my dog suddenly very thirsty and peeing a lot at night?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 2 years old

Our 2 year old aussiedoodle (22 pounds) has recently seemed excessively thirsty and has had two indoor potty issues - once wetting the bed in his sleep in the night, and then peeing excessively and for a long time when we walk him. It is only at night. What might this be about? He has never had any issues with this before.

Even though it’s only happening at night, Fiddle still might have a urinary tract infection or a problem causing increased thirst that leads to increased urination (infections, kidney disease and diabetes would be a few of these diseases). I would recommend seeing your vet - they would probably recommend checking a urine sample to start.
