My German Shepherd's ear has dark discharge. Is it blood or pus?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 63 lbs

I was cleaning my girl today and found these attached in pictures which looked in the cotton cleaner as blood clots or puss but inside her ear i dont know if its ticks or infection or just uncleaned ear. Note: i have 2 other german shepherd when they play the bite each others ear so could it be related? Idk, one more thing the other 2 has clean ears Thanks.

Hello, thank you for using Pet Coach. This looks normal to me, like normal ear wax. It does not appear to be ticks or mites, infection or trauma from the other dog. I personally, would just monitor and if it notice any of the following then get Rita to your vet for an exam: * odor coming from the ear * shaking the head * swelling of the ear flap * scratching at the ear Hope this helps. Best wishes.
