My dog ate a corn on the cob. Is it dangerous? What symptoms to watch?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 22 lbs

Bear snuck a small corn on the cob. The size was around 2 1/2 inches length and was boiled in a soup. To test, I got another cob from same soup chewd it up to see how soft . It was not hard and relatively easy to bite all the way through. I did not see him eat the cob. I do not know how well he chewed it up. This occurred about 4 hours ago. He seems a tiny bit blah but mostly normal.

I would recommend to monitor him at this stage and if you notice any sign of vomiting (or trying to without success), inappetence, lethargy, abdominal discomfort and/or diarrhoea a check up would be required.
