Is this a stye in my dogs eye? Yesterday he had some clear fluid draining out of his left & it still as doing it today so I flushed his eye with saline and as i was cleaning up the excess saline i noticed this red bump on the lower left corner of his eye. Could it possibly be a stye? Or something else? Thank you!

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a trauma or infection. At this stage it is not possible to rule out that a small mass is developing (stye is possible, but a small benign tumor should be considered as well). A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Hi there, I'm concerned at the size and redness of the bump, this might be a stye or something that similar that is infected. I'd recommend taking her to her veterinarian when possible this week to have her assessed and treated. She may need eye drops or oral medications if it's a deep infection. I hope that's helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
