Is my pregnant cat's bad gas a sign she's about to have kittens?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 8 months old | 8 lbs

My cat is super pregnant, like should have had kittens a week ago i believe. Is there anyway i can tell when she will be getting close? I noticed she’s started having really bad smelling gas, could that be a sign?

The gas is probably due to the fact that gastrointestinal movement is not normal due to the presence of the kittens. Your veterinarian can easily estimate how much is left by performing an ultrasound /x ray. Otherwise unfortunately is going to be very difficult to understand it.
