My cat touched a dryer sheet. Is it toxic? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed

I noticed my cast fur was staticky so I used a dryer sheet to get rid of it. I rubbed it on her back and tail. After I had finished it crossed my mind that it may be harmful to her. I found out it is toxic to cats and now I am in worry. Immediately after i washed my cat down in water for 5-10 minutes. Is there anything I should be doing right now? I am worried that it may harm her.

Since you washed her off, I think she will be fine. Watch her for any abnormal behaviors (not eating/drinking, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, etc). If anything is seen, I would have your vet check her out to see if she needs any meds or treatment. To get more info on the particular dryer sheet and its affects, I would contact the pet posion helpline. They have a large database and will be able to give you even more detailed info. I hope this helps! https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/
