Dog hacking all night with dry nose. Is it a respiratory infection?

Tuesday night my dog was hacking all night.. Wednesday he hacked probably around 8 times all day.. his nose is dry,, his breed is an american bull dog and pit mix.. he has always slept a lot.. and i work during the day so im not sure if he is sleeping more or less.. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 55 lbs

Poor Gus! I am concerned that he may be dealing with allergies or an upper respiratory infection. You could try benadryl twice a day to see if there is any improvement. If not, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and get him started on the proper meds, including antibiotics if needed.
