My dog has a paw gash. Does he need an emergency vet or can he wait?

my dog has a huge gash on/in his paw pad were not sure where its from or ow it happened where was no bleeding unless he licked it up not sure we put gauze on it for now but im worried if i need to rush him to a animal hospital or if he can wait to go to his normal vet later today/ tomorrow. also what can i do for pain? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 48 lbs

If there is no active bleeding and he isn't extremely painful, then he can likely wait until later today. Waiting until tomorrow would not be recommended. Place an e-collar (cone) on Rufus to prevent licking. Crate him or restrict activity until he sees the vet. Do not give him anything for pain until you speak with your vet. Many OTC pain medications can be toxic to dogs.
