My dog's ear lump has brown fluid. What does the vet look for?

Hi there! I just took my dog to the vet to have a lump under her ear aspirated- the vet said she got some brown fluid from it that’s they’ll test and get back to me. It hasn’t changed size since we found it and moves around under her skin. It also doesn’t affect my dogs behavior and doesn’t seem to bother her at all. I’m just curious about what is typically looked for when fluid like that is found?

This is likely just a cyst or possibly a localized infection. Since it isn't changing and your dog doesn't seem to be too worried about it, I wouldn't be too concerned. I would just wait for your vet to call you. If you haven't heard from them in a few days, I would call them to double check on the results. I hope this helps!
