My cat had a seizure-like episode. Is it safe to wait for the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 5 months old | 13 lbs

Last night, my cat began to almost howl & then started to shake the way cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia do and his eyes were unable to stay fixed in one place (moving back and forth rapidly). This lasted for 1min. Then, he calmed down and began purring but his purrs were very shallow and shaky. Around 1min after that, he returned 100% to normal. Today, he is fine; eating/drinking/using the box normally. I have an appt with a vet at 10am tm. Is it okay to wait until then if he is acting fine?

It sounds like the cat may have had a seizure. If he is acting fine at the moment I think it will be okay to wait. They will most likely want to run a full workup on him. Bloodwork and X-rays. Good luck!!
