My cat is scared of his new elevated bed. How can I encourage him?

My cat loved to jump and lay on the kitchen countertop,I had to cover the sink to save him from drink soap water,a month ago I built something like desk over it that is easy to jump on and enclose the sink so he can't get in,but in the making process it falled down scaring him and now he's still scared to use it, I covered it with soft blanket,put big soft bed for him,he likes these things but is scared to stay there more than few seconds,how can I encourage him to use his favorite place again?

First make sure it is secured because if it slides around, it will scare him again. Also put a slide proof matt or staple the fabric so he can’t slide off. Put some of his favorite treats up there and show it to him. Then occasionally put them out and let him discover it on his own. This will help build a positive association.
