Wet white spot in cat's eye, no discomfort. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | spayed | 10.5 lbs

This evening I noticed a wet looking white spot in the corner of my cats left eye. She seems to feel fine, and is not exhibiting any sign of discomfort. What might this be, and should I be concerned?

Gently try to wipe the eye to see if that is just some discharge. If it does not come out, it may be a mass and she should see her veterinarian. If it is discharge, as long as she seems normal, you may monitor her for a few days to see if this is a one time thing. If it progresses or worsens, have her seen by her veterinarian. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It sounds like Meika has an eye infection such as conjunctivitis. You can bathe it gently with warm water to provide relief. I would make an appointment to have her eye checked to make sure there is no damage to the eye itself. She will likely need an antibiotic drop.

This looks like a mild case of conjunctivitis. Younger cats tend to get conjunctivitis when they are out on the street and interacting with other cats. The cause is often a virus and they can usually clear the infection on their own, so no specific treatment is needed at this time. Keep the eye clean by applying a cloth soaked in warm water to the outside of the eye twice a day. Try to clean up any gunk that's there. If you start to notice yellow/green discharge, then this would indicate that the infection is getting complicated and Lucchi will need prescription medication for this. You would have to take her to your vet, or a shelter to get her help in that case. I hope that helps and Lucchi gets better soon.
