My cat has breathing issues. Should I cage him and what precautions?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old

Brought cat to the vet for abnormal breathing and nosebleed. The vet couldnt perform the xray and referred us to another clinic that is unavailable atm. The vet suspects diaphrgm problem/water in lungs. Until the other clinic opens, should my cat be confined in a cage? We are also only feeding him wet food. Should we take any other precautions?

I would stop feeding Blue for now, as he will likely need to be sedated for x-rays and should be fasted. I'd keep him in a cage so you don't need to catch him again. Make sure he has enough room in it for water and a litter box. I hope this helps!
