Why did my cat bleed from her vulva after playing? Is she okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 months and 16 days old | 8 lbs

A small amount of blood (maybe about 3 ml) squirted out of my cat's vulva right after she was playing with my dog this morning. She has been eating and acting normally since then, and I haven't noticed any more bleeding. I haven't noticed any swelling or any blood in her urine either. Do you think she's okay?

Without seeing Willow in person, I can't say for certain she is ok or not, but it is weird that blood squirted out of her vulva. It's good that she is eating and drinking normally, so keep an eye on her for now. If you see more blood, she becomes lethargic, her appetite goes down, and/or she is urinating more frequently, take her into the vet. I hope this helps!
