Why is my dog still limping if X-rays show nothing wrong? What's next?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 3 years and 9 months old | 36 lbs

My almost four year old beagle has been limping a bit the past four to six months. Sometimes doesn’t put weight down on her back right leg and will hobble around on three legs. It seems to be happening more frequently lately so our vet recommended X-rays. We had the X-rays done of her hips, knee/leg, and foot, and they all looked fine! But it’s worrisome because there is obviously something wrong that’s causing her to limp this often. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

I’m wondering if Dayzee may have a soft tissue or ligament injury since x-rays look normal. I’d recommend rechecking with your veterinarian if it has been a few weeks since she was last seen, or asking about referral to an orthopedic specialist.
