My 11-year-old Lab cries in pain when opening his mouth. What's wrong?

11 year old lab with bad allergies and ear issues has sudden onset of pain when opening mouth wide, able to eat and drink normally. Noticed yesterday when attempted to give him medication he cried in pain. Seems extra sleepy

Blackie could have a dental problem causing him pain, or he could have a disease called masticatory myositis which causes pain on opening of the mouth. I would take him into the vet on Monday to have this checked out. Best of luck.
