Why is my dog's back crooked, limping, and yelping when he walks?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Male | unneutered | 13 years and 3 months old | 12 lbs

My dogs back like spin looks crooked favoring one side and walking kind of side ways. He is limping in the back leg and yelps every once in awhile. His lower back hip bones seem like no muscle. It only started like 2days ago. What can be wrong with his back?

It could be Peewee has a slipped disc in his back, or he could have a problem with his hip. He sounds painful. I would rest him tonight, and then take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
