My cockatiel laid eggs, now weak, shivering, twitching, not eating.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 1.5 lbs

My Cockatiel just layed eggs (Not Fertile) and she's shivering and un-energetic. she occasionally twitches as well. i put boiled egg in her food if she's low on calcium, but she hasn't eaten in 3 and a half hours. She's in a warm room with towels on her cage and a humidifier. Please help. (There Aren't many Avian Vets around me)

3 hours without eating isn't a major concern, but if Pepper is continuing to worsen and isn't improving with home care, it sounds like she needs to be seen by a vet. Unfortunately, you already seem to be doing all of the at-home care that would help without further examination to determine what is going on with her. If she just laid the eggs, that is a stressor on the body so she could just be quiet and recovering from that, however if she doesn't perk back up, or seems to worsen, then trying to find a vet near you is best, even if they don't specifically see birds.
