Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Long Coat) | Male | neutered | 14 years and 6 months old | 15 lbs

Hi De., after eye surgery due to a fight with my other dog, and spending $1800, my 14 y/o chihuahua’s eye is now getting different than the other eye, looks reddish. what does that mean? I can’t afford another vet visit right now, he’s been eating, sleeping, etc

I’m sorry to hear you’re having this problem with Peanut! Unfortunately, without being able to actually examine his eye, I’m afraid it’s not possible to know what the problem is. It does sound like something is wrong, so I would recommend taking him in for an exam as soon as possible. If cost is a concern, I would try calling and talking to the veterinarian who has been treating him about your concerns. They may be able to work with you on getting him in for a recheck, since this has been an ongoing problem for him and they’re already familiar with his case.
