Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 11 lbs
Hello, my cat is about a year and a half old and he’s pretty laid back. I got a tiny puppy (8 weeks old and about a pound), and my cat seems like he enjoys playing with her and he hops all around her. My question is: I read online that cats will sometimes kill puppies for no reason if left unsupervised, even if they had been getting along. Is this something I need to worry about? Is the fact that the cat is male increase the chance of him attacking her? I never leave them unsupervised.

I have never heard of a cat killing a puppy. It sounds to me like your cat is excited to have a new playmate. It's good that you are supervising their playtimes, but I don't think there is anything for you to worry about. Certainly continue to supervise them until the puppy gets a little more size on her and make sure to play with the cat some on his own so he's not saving up all his energy to play with the puppy, so the little one can have a break from time to time.
