Pet's info: Dog | Carolina Dog | Male | neutered | 47 lbs
My Carolina Dog has developed skin growths on his stomach and groin. They are dark, raised growths, sometimes in clusters. They appear to be very itchy as he is scratching or licking the area constantly.

Hello, sorry to hear about Cass. These skin nodules could be benign such as a sebaceous cyst adenoma or could indicate a more aggressive process such as hemangiosarcoma. Alternatively, given that they seem to bother Cass, mast cell tumors can cause itchiness and occur in the skin. The best approach to avoid speculation is to have one of the nodules removed and tested with a biopsy. Once results confirm the type of nodule, recommendations for medications, monitoring, or if necessary surgery to remove them all can be made. In the interim, monitor Cass for any persistent scratching, bleeding, discharge or pain associated with these. Schedule an appointment to have Cass evaluated by his veterinarian. Hope this helps and best of luck.
