Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 14 days old
I have a. 7 month old Lab pitt mix. I read somewhere that by 7 months he should be able to hold his bladder for up to 7 hours. However Jack Jack wants to go outside to pee every 30 mins. He Will sit next to the door pushing the blinds with his nose and lookong at you until you take him out. And when we tell him to wait, as we just took him out, he will pee by the door or in his kennel! Is there something we should be doing to help him hold his bladder longer?

Hello. Jack Jack should definitely not be urinating every 30 minutes. This could be a physical problem, or he has some kind of psychological issue, especially if he is drinking more than a normal amount of water. I think it would be a good idea to see if his kidneys are OK & that he does not have any other issues with holding his urine. At the very least, he should be able to hold his urine a minimum of 4-6 hours at this age. Hopefully, he will be fine & he will outgrow this behavior, but I would recommend making sure there is not a medical reason for such frequent outings. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
